Dental Hygienists Are The Best!

The role of
the dental hygienist
Dental hygienists are specialists in preventative dentistry and play
an important role in the prevention and treatment of periodontal (gum)
disease. We work with the Dentist to form a program to meet the
specific needs of each patient. We also offer patients instruction on
correct home care routines and products to use. It is also useful to
show children different ways to make brushing time more fun.

Regular cleanings and check-ups, along with good home care are
necessary to maintain healthy teeth and gums.
Bleeding and swollen gums are a sign of gum disease caused by the
bacterial infection from plaque. This may progress into bone loss and
subsequently tooth loss.
According to the American Dental Association (ADA), some form of gum
disease affects about 3 out of 4 adults over the age 35 and is a major
cause of tooth loss in adults. |

New research is showing that periodontal disease may be a risk factor
and have a role in many serious health ailments, such as heart
disease, diabetes, stroke, pre-term births. osteoporosis and upper
respiratory infections.
Not only will a clean mouth help improve your appearance and self
confidence, it will contribute to better health. We will take
excellent care of you and look forward to helping you meet your oral
hygiene needs. |
